Greg Gerrard is a 2011 graduate from Barrington High School where he was a three sport athlete, playing golf, basketball and baseball. He went on to graduate from Boston College in 2015 with a degree in Finance. Greg currently works in commercial finance for an industrial transportation company in Chicago. Greg reflects on his basketball career at BHS, "Coach Tucker and Coach Keehn elevated the level of Barrington basketball from their first day. Our team was consistently more disciplined and prepared than our opponent each time we took the court. It led to great success that has continued throughout their tenure. The fundamentals taught have translated far beyond basketball and I still fall back on those lessons today."
Owen Prunskis grew up in Barrington. As an avid basketball player, he was a member of the varsity basketball team under Coach Tucker's leadership from 2009-2011. Owen received both an M.S. and a B.A. in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University, where he graduated with honors, completing his B.A. in three years and his M.S. in the 4th year. After working in various finance and investing roles, Owen co-founded a business working with medical professionals who are focused on the precise diagnosis and treatment of painful conditions as a counter to the opioid epidemic. In 2020, Owen was selected to the Chicago Sun-Times Barrington High School All Decade Team.
Michael Sowa is entering his 5th season as an Assistant Varsity Basketball Coach at Barrington High School and has been instrumental in the program's continued success. A 2003 BHS graduate, Michael was the Captain of both the Varsity Basketball and Baseball teams during his time at Barrington. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 2007 and later received his MBA from the University of Notre Dame. Michael currently resides in Chicago with his wife, Katie. Together they have a 2 year old son named MJ and a dog named Bruce.
Chris Keehn has a diverse background, successfully playing college basketball and coaching at the high school and travel/club levels. During his playing days, he was a 4-year starter at Holy Cross High School, where he was captain for two years. After graduating from Holy Cross, Chris played 4-years at the University of Saint Francis. During his time there, he was an Athletic, Academic All-American, member of Delta Mu Delta Honor Society in Business and was named captain during his senior year. Chris began his 20+ years of coaching at Loyola Academy as the assistant varsity boys' basketball coach for Coach Tucker and continued assisting him at Barrington High School for eight years. Lastly, Chris developed and established the Mount Prospect Cobras, a girls’ travel basketball program in Mount Prospect nine years ago. He is responsible for the organization and growth of the program, focusing on skill development and the fundamentals of the game of basketball.
Bryan Tucker has been coaching high school basketball for over 30 years, with 25 years of experience as a head varsity coach. Arriving at Barrington High School in 2009, he has become the winningest coach in Barrington history, garnering numerous championships and Coach of the Year awards. Coming off the greatest season in the history of the high school with a 3rd place finish in the state, he has accumulated over 470 wins as a head varsity basketball coach. The Chicago Sun-Times recently named Barrington High School one of the top 50 winningest basketball programs in the state for the last decade (2010-2020.) In recognition of excellence throughout his career, Coach Tucker was selected to the IBCA Hall of Fame in 2020. With his leadership, a multitude of players have developed into college players with the opportunity to pursue their playing careers beyond high school. Having been endorsed as the only official feeder program of Barrington High School, Bronco Hoops will work closely with Coach Tucker, relying on his expertise and input to connect the boys of the Barrington community with the philosophy, character development and skill development instilled in the high school basketball program.
